Kiekie Preparation for Weavers
Join us for a full day harvest and preparation of kiekie for weaving workshop. Join Lee-Ann in practicing traditional methods of gathering of this fibre, preparing the raw material, boiling and drying. You will use various haehae (sizing tools) for sizing the strands. Stories belonging to this fibre and what it was used for will be shared.
This workshop will be held in the pā harakeke shelter.

Tickets cost $60 per person and this is workshop is for adults only.
Please bring:
- Your own lunch and drink
- Gloves
- Closed sturdy footwear
- A towel or small trampoline to take kiekie strands home
- Darning needle
- Be dressed for working outdoors
